The Uffizi Gallery is one of the biggest and most well-known museums in the world. It was built by Giorgio Vasari in 1560 and was designed to allow the Grand Dukes to move safely from their private residence to the seat of the government through the Vasari Corridor. It houses countless masterpieces, both from the Italian Renaissance — including the three Majesties by Cimabue, Duccio di Buoninsegna and Giotto, The Birth of Venus and Allegory of Spring by Sandro Botticelli, the Baptism of Christ and The Annunciation by Leonardo Da Vinci — and by German, Flemish, Dutch and French masters.
